Web Developer / Web Accessibility Specialist - Atlanta, GA (Hybrid)

Work: Hybrid - onsite 3 days/week, remote 2 days/week. One Georgia Center, 600 West Peachtree NW, Atlanta, GA 30308.
Schedule: 8:30 AM 5:00 PM, Monday Friday

ABOUT THE ROLE
GDOT is seeking a detail-oriented Web Developer / Web Accessibility Specialist to support digital accessibility compliance across the department's web properties and SharePoint environments. GDOT is prioritizing ADA Title II and WCAG compliance across its digital services - you'll lead remediation efforts, ensure accessible content creation, and help build long-term accessibility practices across the Office of Strategic Communications.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Conduct accessibility audits of GDOT webpages and SharePoint sites against WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA and ADA Title II; develop and implement remediation plans
- Perform hands-on remediation of content, templates, and components; support the ADA Title II compliance roadmap with documentation and progress tracking
- Manage, maintain, and enhance GDOT SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server environments - structure, permissions, workflows, content organization
- Build and modify SharePoint pages, libraries, lists, and web parts to meet business needs while meeting accessibility standards

- Develop, update, and maintain web pages and digital content using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive design
- Ensure all digital content meets accessibility standards: semantic HTML, ARIA roles, keyboard navigation, color contrast, alt text
- Remediate PDFs and documents for accessibility using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and accessible authoring in Microsoft Office
- Guide content creators on accessible content practices; train and support GDOT staff on accessibility best practices
- Collaborate with the Office of Strategic Communications and IT teams to promote accessibility awareness

REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Web Development, IT, Computer Science, Communications, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 2+ years professional experience as a Webmaster, Front-End Developer, or Web Accessibility Specialist
- 2+ years hands-on experience with ADA Title II requirements
- 2+ years web accessibility experience - WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA, WAI-ARIA standards, Section 508
- 2+ years managing/developing within Microsoft SharePoint Online (SharePoint Server a plus)
- 2+ years front-end development - HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, responsive framework concepts
- Knowledge of PDF remediation tools (Adobe Acrobat Pro DC) and accessible document creation in MS Office
- High attention to detail; able to manage multiple compliance projects while meeting strict deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication - able to explain technical accessibility guidelines to non-technical users
- Able to start within 10 business days of selection
